Breakout Watch List(Offense)

Gary Raupers II #9 QB Sophomore Mansfield

                269 yards 31.6% 2td 2int 118 rush yards 3td-2018

Raupers should be starting full time next season. He forced his way onto the field as a Freshmen and made an impact when he played. Raupers is a classic gunslinger. Good arm, mobile, and unpredictable. He’s a legitimate threat running the ball, if the end bites on a read then Raupers is taking off. However Raupers has a flaw the most young QB’s and gunslingers tend to have which is sometimes poor decision making. I expect it to be better this upcoming season but he’ll most likely have a certain level of chaotic flare for his whole career. If Rauper quickly builds chemistry with star receiver DJ McLean then Mansfield will have an interesting offensive foundation for the 2019 season.

David Navas #5 QB Senior CHC

317 Yards 41.6% 3td 1rush td-2018( 654 yards 6td  2int 43.1% 1rush td) -career

All Navas needs is touches. In the limited amount of touches he’s been given over the course of 3 years Navas has excelled. Last season Navas finished 4th in passing efficiency, ranking higher than 5 starting QB’s. In all honesty he might have the strongest arm in the entire league. He consistently takes the top off  defenses and puts pressure on the secondary. Navas doesn’t have stone feet either, he’s actually very mobile making just as many plays with his feet. If he’s given enough touches, then CHC could had a real weapon on their hands.

Akeem Browne #89 WR/Edge Rusher CHC

7rec 86 yards 1td

Browne managed to make waves right away and carve out a starting role in CHC offense.  The big bodied receiver brings a total package to the game but he has to put it together. The opportunity is there for Browne with the graduation of program staple Reggie Robinson( 2000 all purpose yards 23total TD).  All those touches will now go to Browne but its up to him to make the most of them. He’ll also be getting some snaps on the defensive side of the ball as edge rusher. Expect a big season from Browne on both sides of the ball.

Kiel McKenzie #17 QB  Sophomore STAQ

94 yards 55.6% 1 td

Although not a true red-shirt year McKenzie had to sit back and learn this season. In their inaugural season STAQ decided to go with senior QB Luke Sullivan. Mckenzie did get a few chances to show what he could do. The mobile QB has a lot of upside. He has a above average arm and top notch mobility. Once he gets running he’s as fast as any player on the field. He’s young so decision making needs improvement. As previously stated he’s mobile but unlike most young QB’s he doesn’t just tuck and run. Sitting in the pocket to make the play is one of his strong traits. Next season McKenzie should be the full time starter. STAQ’s success as a team will be directly tied to his individual success. He has the talent to be better then just good enough , he has the talent to be one of the best QB’s in the league.

Colton Kotecki #83 WR Sophomore Cornell

1rush TD 11rec 126yards 2td 295 KR 1td 40 pr

Turned into a decent option for Cornell’s offense in his first year with the program. With star pass catcher Brooks Panhans gone Kotecki should turn into the primary weapon on the outside. Needs to get stronger, older corners tend to bully him on his routes. He’ll have to adapt to having the coverage rolled to him, but having star RB Will Griffen in the backfield should alleviate some of the pressure. He can continue to make a impact on special teams. He was Cornell’s leading returner and should produce similar production next season. Cornell may have a pretty versatile weapon on their hands if Kotecki continues to develop.
