2022 Watch List (RB)

SR Navy RB Alex Totta-397 rushing yards 9TD 10rec 65yards

Totta is without a doubt the best returning running back heading into the 2022 season. Totta has always been the second or third option in the backfield but that has not stopped him from making an impact. Now as the lone senior running back in a run first offense Totta should see a massive increase in touches and production. I expect Totta to be in the MVP conversation throughout the season as he leads the Navy offense as their best player.

SR Cornell RB Jacob Wynkoop- 558 rushing yards 1TD 14rec 105yards

Wynkoop is one of the few shining stars on a rather lackluster Cornell roster. The star ball carrier has had to deal with poor offensive line play and inconsistencies from the quarterback position his whole career. Despite all these challenges Wynkoop has continued to produce for Cornell. As a strong downhill runner, you will often see Wynkoop turn 1 or 2 yard runs into 5 plus yard gains. I would love to see Cornell develop some of their other players, so Wynkoop does not have to consistently play against 7 or 8 defenders in the box. Wynkoop and WR Evan Nicholas will be the drivers of the Cornell offense this season. Thier sucess will dictate how far Cornell can go this year.

Soph Army RB Landry Songer- 299 rushing yards 2TD

There is a substantial drop off after Totta and Wynkoop at the running back position in the CSFL, but Songer is one of the underclassmen who can really make an impact for his team and in the league. Songer had to split carries with two other running backs but as the season went on Songer began to show that he is the most capable and impactful back on the roster. If Songer can continue to develop he has a chance to be the most consistent running back at Army since all-time great and CSFL HUB hall of fame member Marqus Burrell. I expect Songer to solidify himself as RB1 and make a huge impact for the Army offense.

Soph CHC Anthony Broderick-290 rushing yards 2TD

Broderick is another young back who will be a focal point for his team this upcoming season. Broderick led the Griffins in rushing yards and was tied for the team lead in rushing touchdowns. Despite being a smaller back Broderick runs hard in between the tackles. He also took off for a 79yard run last season against Penn which was one of the longest runs of the year and set a new Chestnut Hill record for longest run, formally held by CHC great Raevon Floyd-Bennett(63yards). Expect Broderick to be the lead back for the Griffins as they look to bounce back from a disappointing season.
