CSFL

Army v Penn- Army wins 31-7

Player of the game: Sr QB Mikal Willeke 273yards 2TD 1int 14rushing yards 1TD

Army had things rolling as they get their second win of the season. Sr QB Mikal Willeke continues to have a strong senior campaign throwing for 273yards with 2TD. The seasoned signal caller consistently spreads the ball around to his stable of receivers who have made plays so far this season. Jr RB Henry Beck led the team with 64rushing yards 1TD. Sr WR Kobe Semien led the team with 7rec 86yards 1TD. On defense Jr DL Robert Braggs led the Knights with 9tk 1tfl 1sack. Overall the Army defense played well only allowing Penn a score late in the 4th quarter. Army stays home next week as they welcome Navy.

Penn continues to struggle this season. Poor offensive line play has prevented the Quakers from getting anything going consistently. Jr QB Ty Scherer threw for 52yards with 1 TD 1int. So far through 3 games the first time starter has a completion percentage under 40% and has 5interceptions to just 1TD. A lack of talent at the receiver positions hasn’t helped the situation as the Quakers pass catchers continue to struggle with creating separation and making plays. Defensively Jr LB Jake Inserra led the team with 10tk 1.5tfl 1int and Soph LB Ryan Horvath added 9tk 2.5tfl 1 sack 2ff. Penn heads into their bye week before they welcome STAC to Philly.

Navy v Mansfield- Navy win 45-0

Player of the game: Sr QB Brandon Atwood 102passing yards 1TD 1rushing TD

Navy’s well balanced attack proved to be to much for Mansfield. Sr QB Brandon Atwood didn’t have a the most prolific game by his standards but it was more than enough to get the job done. The senior threw for 102 yards adding 1passing and 1rushing TD. The Mids ran for an impressive 227yards spear headed by the combination of Fr Hunter Gennicks, Sr Victor Otero and Jr Tyler Massena. Sr WR Kai Sasaki led team team in receiving yards with 81 on 3rec for 1TD. Defensively Jr DL Andrew Bailey was tied for the team lead with 6tk 1.5tfl and 0.5sack while Jr DL David Niski had an impact upfront finishing with 5tk 2tfl 2sacks. Navy hits the road next week to take on Army.

Mansfield struggled to generate any positive yards in the absence of their offensive leader Jr QB Cahsid Raymond. Jr QB Ben Briggs got the start but couldn’t get Mansfield going in the right direction only throwing for 6yards with 1int. The running game was non existent with the mountaineers finishing with -35 total rushing yards. On defense the usual contributors did what they could. Jr LB Gavin Hinman led the team in tackles for the 2nd straight game this time finishing with 16tk and 1tfl while Sr LB Matt Robert had another good game as well finishing with 12tk. Mansfield heads back home next week as they welcome Caldwell.

STAC v Caldwell- STAC win 25-18

Player of the game: Jr QB Ryan Kenny 235yards 3TD 1int 13rushing yards

STAC came into this game looking to bounce back from a week 1 loss and they did exactly that winning their first game against Caldwell since 2018. Despite the early deficit Jr QB Ryan Kenny played outstanding to lead the Spartans to the win. The Jr QB threw for a season high 235yards 3TD 1int. Kenny showed off his arm talent all night and certainly proved he is one of the best quarterbacks in all of sprint football. Sr RB Bo Maroney led the team in rushing with 61yards. The receiving core for the Spartans played great resulting in 4 different players going for 40 yards or more. Fr WR Nyir Jones had the best game of his career finishing with 4rec 69yards 2TD. On defense STAC was led by their front seven, particularly Soph DL Donnell White and Sr LB Chris Jones. The pair combined for 17tk 2.5tfl 1sack. STAC heads home next week to take on CHC.

Caldwell had control of this one early scoring on their first drive but couldn’t come away with the win in the end. Sr QB Frank DeMaio threw for 148yards however this was the first game of the season where he did not have a touchdown pass. Soph RB Devon Turner had a big impact on the ground rushing for 109yards 1TD. This was his 2nd 100+ yard game of the season. Sr WR Nadir Orsini led the team with 3rec 75yards 1TD and Sr WR Jeremy Colon wasn’t far behind with 4rec 72yards. The Cougars defense was led by Sr DL Darien Davis who had a team high 9tk 2tfl. Caldwell hits the road next week to visit Mansfield in upper PA.

MSFL

Walsh v Oakland City-Walsh wins 41-8

Player of the game: Fr WR Keion Hawkins-Simms 4rec 119yards 3TD

Walsh won this one in dominating fashion to get their first win in program history. They did so by scoring a program record 41 points and forcing 7 turnovers. Soph QB Kyree Fox threw for a career high 193yards 2TD. On the ground Fr RB Josiah Lane ran for a career high 103yards. Fr WR Keion Hawkins-Simms continues to be a impact player finishing this one with 4rec 119yards 3TD. The Walsh defense had an impressive day as well. Fr DL Tyionta Sellers had a career day finishing with 8tk 5tfl 1sack 1fr. Fr DB Willy Wallace had 3tk 1tfl and a game high 2int. A total of 5 Cavaliers had an interception in the game. Walsh hits the road next week to take on Fontbonne.

Oakland City struggled to sustain any momentum in this game. Fr QBs Dylan Grant and Darrius Pope combined for 59yards 6int. Fr RB Jamal Johnson was one of the only bright spots rushing for a career high 88yards.Fr WR Devontay Gilbbert was the lone presence in the receiving core finishing with 2rec for 48yards. Fr DL Braydon Wathen had a team high 8tk 0.5tfl 0.5sack 1ff and Fr DB Kanye Johnson had an impressive game finishing with 7tk 2tfl 1sack 1ff 1fr. Oakland City continues to search for their first win as they head home next week to take on CCSJ.

Bellarmine v Midway- Bellarmine win 27-7

Player of the game: Soph RB Brenden Reid 129yards 2TD 1rec 12yards

Bellarmine continues the strong start to their season. Fr QB Luke Worley had the best game of his young career throwing for 115yards 1TD. Soph RB Brenden Reid continues to be the catalyst for the Knights offense rushing for 129yards 2TD. Reid consistently makes winning plays for Bellarmine as the lead ball carrier and as a lead blocker. Gr RB Gavin Foushee and Fr RB Derrik Gant were the main targets through the air combining for 7rec 83yards. On defense Soph LB Caleb Murray and Fr DB Baker Hataway combined for 12tk. Bellarmine hits the road next week to play SMWC as both teams put their 3-0 record on the line.

Midway was in it early scoring a touchdown in the first quarter but couldn’t do much after that. Fr QB Keegan Hill threw for 219yards 1int. The passing game was clicking but Midway failed to throw for a TD. Fr RB Matthew Young led the team on the ground with 56yards 1TD. Soph WR Rudy Loomis led the team in receiving with 5rec 98yards while Fr WR Dameon Miller added 4rec 78yards. Fr LB Noah Watson led the defense with a game high 11tk 1.5tfl. His teammate Fr DL Peyton Brazier wasn’t far behind finishing with 9tk 2.5tfl 1sack. Midway hits the road next week to take on Quincy.

SMWC v Fontbonne- SMWC win 44-6

Player of the game: Soph WR Devron Johnson 4rec 137yards 2TD & Fr DL Andrew Brown 11tk 3.5tfl 2sacks 1ff 1fr 1int

SMWC won this one with explosive passing plays and stifling defense. Jr QB Jeremiah Tosky threw for 260yards 2TD 1int. The Pomeroys dominant rushing game continues to overwhelm teams this time finishing with a total of 113yards led by Jr RB Keandre Jones who had 60yards. Soph WR Devron Johnson had a dominant game finishing with 4rec 137yards 2TD. Johnson’s 137yards are a career and season high. On defense SMWC was led by Fr DL Andrew Brown who had a career day finishing with 11tk 3.5tfl 2sacks 1ff 1fr 1int. That is an incredible stat line from the young defender and one of the most complete games I have ever seen in sprint football. SMWC heads home to take on Bellarmine as the last two unbeaten teams in the MSFL.

Fontbonne leaves this one with their first loss of the season. The success the Griffins had last week in the passing game was no where to be found in this matchup. Fr QB Temaj Taylor threw for 57yards with 3int. As a team Fontbonne did have some success on the ground finishing with 163 total rushing yards with Jr RB Trevor Patton leading the way with 59yards. The Griffins defense was led by star Soph LB Avion Bass who finished with a team high 10tk 3tfl. Bass continues to be the anchor for the Fontbonne defense and will be a key player as they aim for a strong finish in the MSFL. Fontbonne heads back home to take on Walsh.

Quincy v CCSJ-Quincy win 14-13

Player of the game: Jr LB Ray Lingard 12tk 5tfl 2pbu

Quincy managed to survive in this close game. Fr QB Duece Allaway threw for 197yards 2TD 3int. The young QB looked solid in his first start despite the turnovers. Sr RB Chance Newton led the team in rushing with 54yards.Soph WR Exavier Hinton was the lead receiver on the night finishing with 3rec 75yards 1TD. On defense Jr LB Ray Lingard had his best game of the season having a season high 12tk 5tfl. Lingard was having a quite season so far but it was only a matter of time until he had a breakout game. The Hawks defense forced multiple fumbles and kept the Crimson Wave from taking the lead. Quincy stays home to welcome Midway next week.

Despite low offensive stats CCSJ was in this one until the very end. Fr QB Destry Peoples threw for 55yards 1TD. Soph RB Detrick Merriweather led the team on the ground with 41yards 1TD. Where CCSJ really shinned was on defense. Soph DB Nino Barbosa led the team in tackles with 8 and 5pbu. The defensive star for the Wave was Soph DB Quindarius Davis who finished with 4tk 3int. The young DB continues to prove he is one of the best defensive players in the MSFL and all of sprint football. CCSJ finishes up their 3 game road trip next week at Oakland City.
