Despite some early back and forth Navy eventually steadied the ship and never looked back. Sr QB Brandon Atwood had a efficient day throwing for 98yards with 1TD and rushing for 101yards with 1TD. Atwood wasn’t the only one to have a great day on the ground. Jr RB Luke Wagner ran for a career high 104yards with 1TD. As a team Navy ran for 325yards and 6TD. Defensively Soph DB Jake Wolinski had the best game of his career finishing with 9tk 2.5tfl 1 sack 1int. Navy finishes up the regular season on the road against Penn.
Cornell wasn’t able to keep this one close but they did manage to produce some positive offensive production. Sr RB Ralph Fleuranvil had a career day rushing for 104yards. That is the first 100 yard game of Fleuranvil’s career. Cornell ran the ball surprisingly well finishing the game with 154 rushing yards as a team. On defense Soph DB Ian Applegate led the team in tackles with 9 and 1tfl while Jr DL Kevin Lopez added 6tk 1.5tfl 1sack. Cornell finishes their season at home vs STAC.
STAC v Mansfield-STAC win 34-0
Player of the game: Jr QB Ryan Kenny 293yards 4TD 49rushing yards 1TD
STAC got rolling early with their explosive passing game. Jr QB Ryan Kenny continues to have the best season of his career. He threw for 293yards 4TD and scored 1TD on the ground as well. Kenny’s play has been a critical part of the STAC offensive development over the last few seasons. Sr ATH Reno Molina had an explosive day ending the night with 39rushing yards 5rec 127receiving yards 2TD. Not far behind him is Sr WR Phillip Meikle who added 4rec 93yards 2TD. Sr DL Brayan Anaman led the team on defense finishing with 5tk 2tfl 1sack. STAC ends their season next week with a visit to Cornell.
Mansfield couldn’t do much to get things headed in the right direction in this game. Jr QB Cahsid Raymond had a quite day only throwing for 16yards while adding 71yards on the ground. The low passing totals are not all on him, the Mountaineers receiving core didn’t have a great day catching the ball. Multiple drops stalled out drives and slowed any momentum Mansfield was building. Mansfield also struggled to run the ball. The next closest rusher to Raymond was Jr RB Dominic Cherry who had 38yards. Sr LB Matt Robert had a team high 8tk 1tfl to lead the defense. Mansfield finishes their season next week with a second matchup against CHC.
CHC v Penn-CHC win 28-14
Player of the game: Soph DL Jonathan Havrilak 16tk 1tfl 1sack
CHC gets the series win against Penn. The well rounded win started on the offensive side of the ball with a great performance from Sr QB CJ Small who threw for a career high 286yards 2TD 2int. Small has played well in the past for the Griffins so his performance this weekend is not surprising. The main offensive threat on the day was Soph WR Kyree Griffin who had 3rec 127yards 1TD. A big chunk of that came on a 96yard reception mirroring the 99yard reception Fr WR Kindrik Branch had to open the season against Penn. Jr TE Nick Ocampo also added 2rec 66yards 1TD. On defense Soph DL Jonathan Havrilak had a great night finishing with 16tk 1tfl 1sack. Havrilak’s 16tk ties him with all time CHC great LB Jonathan Baldwin for the most tackles in a game in CHC history. A stellar accomplishment for the standout defensive lineman. Soph LB Jerry Clark helped change the game with 10tk and 1int that he ran back for a touchdown. CHC ends their season next week with a second matchup against Mansfield.
Penn used their running game to get some points on the board but didn’t have enough to escape with the win. Jr QB Ty Scherer had 89yards 3int 69rushing yards 1TD to end the night. Scherer hasn’t shown the ability to be high level passer like some of his peers in the CSFL however the passing struggles can also be attributed to the receiving core. The group has struggled to create separation and make big plays down the field all year. Running the ball has been the Quakers saving grace and this game was no different. Jr RB Tom Rebstock had one of the better games of his career rushing for a game high 104yards 1TD. Jr DL Cam Janock led the team with 10tk 2tfl 2sacks 1ff. Janock has been one of the Quakers best defenders all season. Penn ends their season next week at home vs Navy.
MSFL
SMWC v Walsh-SMWC win 35-6
Player of the game: Jr QB Jeremiah Tosky 245yards 1TD 49rushing yards 1TD
SMWC was very efficient in this all around win. Jr QB Jeremiah Tosky continues to make his case for MSFL offensive player of the year. The star QB threw for 245yards 1TD and added 49yards 1TD on the ground. The running game continues to be a major piece of the Pomeroy’s offensive attack. The talented stable of backs ran for 156yards 4TD as a group. Soph WR Corbyn Cleveland led the team through the air with 5rec 83yards. On defense Fr DB Joshua Wence and Soph LB Jake Skinner combined for 11tk 3tfl 1int. The defensive unit did a great job slowing down a potentially lethal Walsh offense. SMWC ends their regular season next week at Midway.
Walsh was able to get moving from time to time throughout the game but couldn’t turn many drives into points. Soph QB Kyree Fox threw for 70yards 1TD 2int. Fr RB Anthony Adeniji led the team on the ground with 64yards. The young ball carriers runs were the most consistent form of offense for a developing Walsh team. Fr defensive linemen Tyionta Sellers and Alikwon Harris did what they could upfront combining for 17tk 2tfl. Fr DL Tre’Quan Taylor also had a big game ending the day with 7tk 3tfl 1sack. Walsh ends their regular season next week at CCSJ.
Bellarmine v Fontbonne-Bellarmine win 26-14
Player of the game: Fr LB Allan Ho 10tk 2.5tfl 2sacks
Bellarmine continues their winning ways with timely chunk yardage plays in the passing game and great defense. Fr QB Luke Worley played well once again ending the night with 122yards 2TD and 2rushing TD. Worley’s improvement is one of the major reasons Bellarmine has had success this season. Fr Rick Langarica had his best offensive game rushing for a team high 93yards. Fr WR Shannon Tonge found the endzone often ending the night with 2rec 50yards 2TD. On the defensive side of the ball there were more than a few Knight who had big games. Fr LB Allan Ho had the best game of his career finishing with 10tk 2.5tfl 2sacks. Soph DL Jordan Haywood had 5tk 2tfl 2sacks. Fr DB Isaiah Delaquis had 2 interceptions to help stop Fontbonne drives. Bellarmine hits the road next week to visit Quincy to end the regular season.
Fontbonne had their chances but turnovers and sacks prevented the Griffins from putting positive drives together. Fr QB Temaj Taylor threw for 159yards 2TD 3int. The young QB pushed the ball down the field which allowed his talented receiving core to make more than a few acrobatic catches in the game. However the 3 interceptions didn’t help Fontbonne’s efforts as well as the 9 sacks given up. Fr RB KJ Burns led the team on the day with 3rec 101yards 1TD. Burns, Collins and Soph Ath Chris Rekel all made highlight reel catches to keep Fontbonne in the game. On defense Soph LB Avion Bass led the team with a game high 14tk 1.5tfl 0.5sack. Fontbonne ends the regular season with a home game against Oakland City.
Quincy v Oakland City-Quincy win 20-8
Player of the game: Fr RB Travon Hegler-Wright 138yards & Jr RB CJ Jackson 132yards 2TD
The wet conditions may have stopped Quincy from throwing the ball how they would like but it did little to effect their dynamic running game. The Hawks only had 1 passing yard in the game. Normally that would mean your offense is in trouble but the running game was there to save the day. Fr RB Travon Hegler-Wright and Jr RB CJ Jackson combined for 270yards 2TD. The pair ran hard all day constantly putting pressure on the Oakland City defense. On the other side of the ball Fr LB Sawyer Mulherin led the team with 7tk 3tfl. Soph WR Exavier Hinton contributed to the win with a 42yard punt return TD to help finish the game for the Hawks. Quincy finishes up the regular season with a matchup against Bellarmine.
Oakland City struggled due to Quincy’s tough defense and the bad weather. Fr QB Jacob Lee threw for 65yards 1TD 2int. Oakland City has slowly found themselves a passing attack but that was neutralized in this game. The main offensive target on the day Fr WR Devontay Gilbert who led the team with 3rec 57yards 1TD. Fr DL A’moses Wells & Fr LB A’JahNoah Wells had great efforts in this game. The pair combined for 20tk 3tfl. Oakland City continues to search for their first win in program history. They end their regular season next week against Fontbonne.
CCSJ v Midway-CCSJ win 37-3
Player of the game: Soph Nino Barbosa 156passing yards 18rushing yards 3TD
Despite moving some pieces around CCSJ had their biggest offensive explosion of the season. Soph Nino Barbosa, who stars at safety for the Wave, lent his talents to the offense as a QB in this game. Barbosa finished the game with 156passing yards 18rushing yards 3TD. Soph RB Elijah Antis ran hard as the lead back finishing the game with 88yards 2TD. On defense Soph LB Trevor Busse led the team with 14tk 2.5tfl 2ff 1fr. Busse continues to show that he is one of the best linebackers in the MSFL and all of sprint football. CCSJ ends the regular season next week at home against Walsh.
Midway was in the game early but couldn’t do much to stop the CCSJ offense. Fr QB Keegan Hill threw for 163yards 2int. Jr QB Connor Baker lined up at receiver and was the primary offensive target. He ended the game with 3rec 83yards.The Midway offense has been able to move the ball on just about all of their opponents but have struggled to turn drives into points and limit turnovers.
