CSFL
Navy v Penn-Navy win 33-7
Player of the game: Sr QB Brandon Atwood 239yards 3TD 52rushing yards 1TD
Navy had a slow start if the first quarter but got things rolling as the game went on. Sr QB Brandon Atwood had a nice night finishing with 239yards 3TD 52rushing yards 1TD. His biggest target Sr WR Andrew Margioatta had one of the best games of his season finishing the night with 5rec 89yards 1TD. Sr WR Kai Saskai added 5rec 63yards 2TD. On defense Sr LB Jack Costigan led the team with 8tk 1tfl 1fr. Jr DL David Niski added 4tfl 1tfl 1sack 1fr. Navy heads to Army next week to play in the CSFL championship game to end the season.
Penn kept things close early but a poor offensive effort and turnovers kept the Quakers from winning the game. Jr QB Ty Scherer only threw for 74yards with 1TD late in the 4th quarter. The passing game has been sub par all season and this night was no different. The Penn receivers have struggled to get open against quality corners which has made things difficult for the Penn offense. On defense Jr DL Cam Janock, who has been one of the lone bright spots this season, led the team with 9tk 1tfl. Penn ends their season with a 2-4 record.
STAC v Cornell- STAC win 42-21
Player of the game: Fr WR Nyir Jones 3rec 38yards 89yard KR TD
STAC set the tone early in the game with a big KR TD from standout freshman receiver Nyir Jones. After that both sides of the ball for the Spartans did not let up. Jr QB Ryan Kenny finished up his season with 146yards 2TD.Kenny has been impressive all season and has been a major catalyst for the Spartans improvement as a program. Sr RB Bo Maroney had one of the better games of his career ending the night with 80yards 2TD. Sr Ath Reno Molina ended his career as well. The star athlete finished the night with 37rushing yards 5rec 80yards 1TD. On defense Sr DB JT Perry led the team in tackles with 7 and 1tfl. Sr LB Esmond Oldums 5tk 1tfl 1int returned for a TD. STAC finishes their season with a 4-3record.
Cornell wasn’t able to put up much of a fight in this one. A lack of quality offensive players and needle movers on defense has left Cornell in a difficult situation. Jr QB Charles Snajdr-Trinch got the chance to start at QB. He ended the game with 105 yards 1TD 1int. Jr ATH Evan Nicholas led the team on the ground with 74rushing yards. Nicholas has been one of the only constant contributors on either side of the ball for Cornell. On defense Sr LB Billy Turner led the team in tackles with 7 and 1tfl. Cornell ends their season with a 0-6 record.
Army v Caldwell-Army wins 35-7
Player of the game: Fr RB Arthur Lavalais 87rushing yards 2TD
Army wraps up the regular season with a 6-0 record. They accomplished this by playing tough defense and having a well balanced offense. This game against Caldwell was no different. Sr QB Mikal Willeke threw for 203yards 1TD. The senior has been sharp all season. His level of play will be one of the determining factors in next week’s game. Fr RB Arthur Lavalais continues to have a strong freshman season ending the game with 87yards 2TD. The leading receiver on the day was Sr WR Maurice Bellan with 3rec 74yards 1TD. On defense Sr LB Christian Dionisio led the team with 10tk 2tfl 1sack. Army will host Navy next week in the CSFL Championship game.
Caldwell had a up and down season this year. The momentum from two straight wins was wiped out after dropping the last 4 games of the season including this game to Army. Sr QB Frank DeMaio threw for 133yards 1TD to end his career. The steady QB has been at the helm for the most winning era of Caldwell football. He will surely be missed. Sr WR Zaheir Mitchell ended his career with 4rec 72yards. On defense Jr DB Amajuwan Murray led the team with 10tk 1tfl 1sack. Caldwell ends their season with a 2-4 record.
Mansfield v CHC-Mansfield wins 42-30
Player of the game: Jr QB Cahsid Raymond 265yards 2TD 124rushing yards 2TD
Mansfield held off Chestnut Hill with strong play from their upperclassmen. Jr QB Cahsid Raymond played lights out ending the game with 265yards 2TD 124rushing yards 2TD. The stud QB has been the catalyst for the Mansfield offense and this game was no different. Sr ATH Terrance Quaker ended his career with a great all around performance. Quaker ended the night with 56rushing yards 1TD 3rec 65yards 1TD. That’s 121 all purpose yards and 2TD for the senior in his final outing. Jr WR LaTrenton Randle had the best game of his career ending the night with 3rec 143yards 1TD. On defense Sr LB Matt Robert led the team in tackles with 9. Robert has been the man in the middle for this defense since his very first snaps as a freshman. The stud backer finishes his career as one of the best linebackers to ever play in the CSFL. Mansfield finishes their season with a 4-3 record.
CHC fought valiantly as they attempted to complete the comeback but failed to do so in the end. Sr QB CJ Small did not disappoint in his final game. The senior QB threw for 239yards 3TD 2int in his final game as a Griffin. Jr TE Nick Ocampo had the best game of his career ending the night with 9rec 118yards 1TD. Ocampo has proved that he his one of the best tight ends in sprint football and will be a main offensive target for the Griffins next season. Defensively Soph DL Jonathan Havrilak led the team with 9tk 1tfl. The Griffins ended their losing streak to start their season but struggled to overcome their other peers in the CSFL. CHC ends their season with a 2-5 record.
MSFL
Fontbonne v Oakland City-Fontbonne wins 16-14
Player of the game: Soph LB Avion Bass 10tk 4.5tfl 4.5sacks
Fontbonne couldn’t get anything going to start the game. Mishandled snaps on offense and special teams gave Oakland City the early lead. A strong second half led the Griffins to a victory. Fr QB Temaj Taylor saw reduced snaps as the game went on. Soph Ath Chris Rekel came in to relive him and continued to produce despite being taken away from his usual receiver position. The pair threw for 233 yards 1TD 1int. The most productive offensive target was Fr WR KJ Burns who has really turned it up in the second half of the season. Burns ended the game with 4rec 125yards 1TD. On defense Fontbonne was led by their duo of stud linebackers Avion Bass and Clayton Arrowood. Bass had a elite game finishing with 10tk 4.5tfl 4.5sacks and Arrowood added 8tk 3tfl 0.5sack. Fontbonne finishes the regular season with a 4-3 record.
Oakland City took advantage of turnovers and sloppy play to take the early lead but couldn’t hold off the Fontbonne comeback. Fr QB Jacob Lee finished with 49yards 2int 34rushing yards 1TD. Fr RB Jamal Johnson led the team in rushing with 71yards. Johnson’s hard runs were the most consistent offense the Oaks could find in the game. On the defensive side of the ball the Oak’s young talent really shinned. Fr DB Kanye Johnson continues to have a monster season. The young DB ended the game with 12tk 7.5tfl 3sacks. Right behind him Fr DL Keith Hall added 6tk 4tfl 3sacks. The dynamic pair have been the two best players for Oakland City all year. If the Oaks can build off the efforts of these two talented defensive players then they will be in a good place for years to come. Oakland City finishes their regular season with a 0-7 record.
SMWC v Midway-SMWC wins 43-14
Player of the game: Jr QB Jeremiah Tosky 250yards 4TD 1int & Soph WR Devron Johnson 7rec 137yards 1TD
SMWC continues to give teams trouble with their high powered offense and tough defense. Jr QB Jeremiah Tosky continues to light teams up ending this game with 250yards 4TD. His biggest receiving threat on the season and main target in this game was Soph WR Devron Johnson who had 7rec 137yards 1TD. That’s Johnson’s 3rd 100+ yard game of the season. On defense the Pomeroys were led by Fr LB Aaron McClure and Fr LB Dalton Payton. The pair combined for 18tk 1tfl. What really kept Midway out of it was the stifling coverage from the secondary. SMWC had 5 defenders end the night with 1 interception. SMWC heads into the playoffs with a lot of momentum. They will face Quincy next week in the first round of the playoffs.
Midway continues to show promise but couldn’t take out the defending league champs. Jr QB Connor Baker was at the helm for Midway and ended the game with 61yards 2TD 4int 95rushing yards. Midway has had up and down play from their quarterbacks all season but that is to be expected for a young team still searching for their identity. Soph WR Charles Adams was the leading receiver with 2rec 66yards 1TD. On defense Fr DL Peyton Brazier led the team with 8tk 1tfl and Soph LB Luke Guerrero added another 8tk 0.5tfl 1ff 1fr. Midway ends their regular season with a 2-5 record.
Bellarmine v Quincy-Quincy wins 28-18
Player of the game: Fr QB Deuce Allaway 104yards 1TD 9rushing yards 1TD
Quincy has played strong defense all season. That defense is what allowed them to hand Bellarmine their first loss of the season. Fr QB Duece Allaway had a decent game throwing for 104yards 1TD with 1rushing TD. The freshman saw his net total rushing yards go down due to lost yards on runs and sacks but the talented young QB has used his legs all season to extend plays and drives for the Hawks. Fr RB Travon Hegler-Wright led the team on the ground with 89 rushing yards. Fr LB Sawyer Mulherin led the team on defense with 10tk. Quincy will matchup with SMWC in the first round of the playoffs next week.
Bellarmine stayed close in this one but couldn’t finish with the victory. Fr QB Luke Worley threw for 133yards 1TD 1int. Gr Devan Hendricks who was a major contributor on offense last season has had to return to that role due to injuries in the backfield. He finished this game as the team’s leading rusher ending the night with 73yards. On defense Soph LB Caleb Murray had a day ending the game with a game high 12tk 3tfl 1sack 1ff 1fr. Fr LB Allan Ho added 9tk 2tfl. Bellarmine is still in the mix despite the loss and will host a first round playoff game next week.
