SMWC v Quincy- SMWC win 23-13

Player of the game: Fr RB Derron Hazzard 69rushing yards 2TD 2rec 53yards 1TD

SMWC pulled off the comeback and are now headed to their second straight MSFL championship game. Big plays from Pomeroys on both sides of the ball proved to be to much for the Hawks to withstand. Jr QB Jeremiah Tosky threw for 196yards 1TD .Early turnovers killed all of the momentum SMWC had in the 1st half but the star QB got things under control in the 2nd. The biggest offensive catalyst on the day was Fr RB Derron Hazzard. The first year running back had 122 all-purpose yards 3TD. Hazzard now has the most rushing touchdowns in sprint football this season. Soph WR Corbyn Cleveland had a great game leading the team with 6rec 99yards.On the defensive side of the ball Fr DL Di’lon Harvey had a triumphant return finishing with 8tk 2.5tfl 2sacks.1ff. Fr DB Jordan Foster played well in the secondary making plays all around the field ended the day with 6tk 2pbu.SMWC will play CCSJ for the second year in a row in the MSFL championship game.

Quincy had the early lead but a resilient SMWC offense wore the Hawks down. The young Quincy quarterbacks had their work cut out for them against the Pomeroy’s defense. Fr Marcus Oberriter and Soph Nick Manzo combined for 158yards 1TD 1int. The star of the Quincy offense was Jr RB CJ Jackson who finished with a team high 95yards 1TD. Jackson’s dynamic runs were most consistent form of offense for the Hawks. Soph WR Nasir Carson was the biggest receiving threat for Quincy leading the team with 4rec 96yards 1TD. On defense Fr LB Sawyer Mulherin led the team with 12tk 2.5tfl 1sack.Quincy finishes their season with a 5-2 record.

CCSJ v Bellarmine-CCSJ win 28-14

Player of the game: Soph ATH/DB Nino Barbosa 90passing yards 2TD 2int 106rushing yards 2TD

CCSJ continues to have wild ride of a season as they overcome Bellarmine to secure their spot in the MSFL championship game. Big plays from Soph Nino Barbosa propelled the Crimson Wave to victory. The dynamic athlete ended the game with 196 total yards and 4 total touchdowns. His huge run to get the Wave going in the first quarter was one of the best runs of the season. Soph RB Elijah Antis was steady in the running game finishing with 94rushing yards. Fr WR Stevie Salman had the best game of his career leading the team with 3rec 88yards 2TD. On defense a plethora of defenders impacted the game. Soph DL Tony Madreuno finished with 7tk 3tfl 1.5sacks. Soph LB duo Trevor Busse and Alexander Dellaechaie combined for 13tk 8tfl 3.5sacks. On the backend Soph LB Jared Corttrell and Soph DB Quindarius Davis both snagged 1 interception a piece to help secure the victory. CCSJ will visit SMWC for a rematch of last years MSFL championship game.

Bellarmine fell behind early and couldn’t get things under control to orchestrate a comeback. Fr QB Luke Worley ended his season with a 139yard 2TD 2int performance. The young quarterback has shown his potential and should be a player to watch for years to come. Soph RB Brenden Reid made his return and lead the team with 40rushing yards.Fr WR Shannon Tonge led the team through the air finishing with 6rec 82yards 1TD. Bellarmine was led by their pair of young linebackers Caleb Murray and Allan Ho. The pair combined for 17tk 2tfl. Bellarmine finishes their season with a 6-2 record.

CSFL

Army v Navy-Navy win 28-23

Player of the game Sr QB Brandon Atwood 96yards 2TD 109rushing yards

Navy ends the 2023 season as the CSFL champs. A timely special teams touchdown put Navy on the board. After that the Navy offense started to turn out first downs thanks to the efforts of Sr QB Brandon Atwood. The standout QB finished that game with 96passing yards 2TD 109rushing yards. Atwood finishes his career as arguably the best quarterback to ever play for Navy and easily a top 10 quarterback of all time. Sr WR Kai Sasaki was the biggest receiving threat for Navy leading the team with 2rec 44yards 1TD. On defense Sr DB Dante Carrasco had a great game in his final outing finishing with 11tk 1tfl 1sack. Sr LB Devyn Martin made big plays on defense finishing with 9tk 2tfl 1sack and chipped in on offense with a rushing TD. Navy ends the season as the 2023 CSFL Champions.

Army had success utilizing multiple different players on offense but it wasn’t enough to secure the victory. Sr QB Mikal Willeke made a ton of great throws ending the game with a game high 209yards with 1TD. The main weapon for the Army offense was Sr WR Maurice Bellan. The senior finished the game with 115 all purpose yards. Bellan finishes his career with his best performance of the season. The defense for the Black Knights was led by Sr LB Luke Giglotti who finished the game with 13tk 1tfl. Army wraps up their season with a 6-1 record.
