Playoff Review Pt II
MSFL
CCSJ v SMWC-CCSJ win 31-0
Player of the game: Soph ATH Nino Barbosa 155yards 3TD 78rushing yards
With perseverance, grit, and attitude CCSJ clawed their way back from a 0-3 record to start the season to now being crowned MSFL champs. They did so with timely plays on offense and spectacular plays from their defense. This game was no different. A slow start resulted in a tied 0-0 game at halftime. But once the Wave came out of the half the driven team could not be stopped. Soph ATH Nino Barbosa ended this story book season with a 155yard 3TD 78rushing yards performance. The dynamic playmaking ability of Barbosa was just what the Wave needed to steady the offense in the playoffs. Fr WR Jacob Oehmen led the team through the air with 2rec 62yards 2TD. The CCSJ defensive stars did not disappoint. Soph DB Josh Tejeda led the team with 11tk 3tfl 3sacks. Soph LB Trevor Busse who has been a stud all season left it all out on the field finishing with 8tk 1tfl 1sack 1int. Adding to the amazing defensive day was Soph DB Quindarius Davis. The lockdown corner finished with 6tk 1tfl 2int. CCSJ finish their season as the MSFL champions.
SMWC played great defense to help keep the game close heading into halftime. But in the second half things got away from them on both sides of the ball. Jr QB Jeremiah Tosky struggled only throwing for 160yards 3int. Turnovers on offense proved to be to much for the Pomeroys to overcome. The usually explosive backfield of SMWC was held to just 5 positive yards on the ground. As the offense began to fall so did the SMWC defense. The Pomeroys gave up 31 points in the second half. Well defended passes often forced Tosky to scramble just to find a viable passing option. Fr DL Di’lon Harvey led the team with 7tk 1tfl 1sack. SMWC finish their season with a 6-2 record.
