Names to know:DB
(MSFL) CCSJ Jr Quindarius Davis 2023-29tk 2tfl 8int 4pbu
On a team filled with defensive stars Jr DB Quindarius Davis might be the brightest star of them all. Davis has been the best corner in the MSFL the last two seasons and he is one of if not the best corner in all of sprint football. The physicality Davis brings to the game is rarely seen from corners. On more than one occasion Davis has jacked up the receiver to the point that they cant even continue running their route. Where Davis separates himself from his peers is in his ability to be an elite cover guy that can still force turnovers. Sometimes elite corners are so dominant they don’t get thrown to a lot or they make plays on the ball that turn into broken up passes or incompletions. Davis does that while still finding a way to forces turnovers. Davis led all of sprint football last season with 8 interceptions. Some guys don’t get 8 interceptions in their career let alone one season. Davis is the number one corner to watch heading into this season. He is guaranteed to make amazing plays week in and week out.
(CSFL) Army Sr Bryheem Swanson 2023-20tk 1int 5pbu
Army has had some of the best defenses that they have ever had over the past few seasons. While their front seven usually has most of the stars Army has had some quality defensive backs the last few years. One guy who stands out now is Sr Bryheem Swanson. The senior has proven to be one of the best cover guys in the CSFL. Swanson has a long frame that helps him stay stride for stride with some of the fastest and tallest guys in the CSFL. With the pressure that the Army front seven puts on teams Swanson will have a easier job covering some of the CSFL’s best.
(CSFL) Caldwell Sr Kyle Readus 2023-13tk 4int 9pbu
Caldwell has had some great secondary players over the last few seasons. The guy who has stood above the rest for the Cougars has been Sr Kyle Readus. The star corner has been one of the best defensive backs in the league since his first season. Readus has shown the ability to excel in every type of coverage. He can play press man, off-man, quarters, deep third, bump and run, cover two, and any variation of Caldwell’s base defense. Its been a joy to watch Readus excel as one of the best corners in sprint football. I expect Readus to be as good as he’s ever been as he heads into his final season.
(MSFL) SMWC Soph Jordan Foster 2023-23tk 2.5tfl 3int 6pbu
SMWC has had some of the top players in the MSFL in their first two seasons. One of those guys who is a top player at their position group is Soph Jordan Foster. The young DB proved very early that he would become one of the premier corners in the MSFL and at this rate he will be one of the best corners in all of sprint football. Foster does a great job of playing the ball while its in the air. He made more than a few plays last season where he broke off of his guy or zone to go make a play. Foster also has shown a willingness to come downhill and tackle whenever duty calls. I expect Foster to make a big jump in year two and continue what has been a great start to his career.
(CSFL) Caldwell Sr Gennaro Longobardi 2023- 16tk 4int 1pbu
The Caldwell secondary has had some great players these last few years. One guy who is wrapping up his time as a Cougar is Sr Gennaro Longobardi. The senior safety had the best season of his career so far leading the team with 4 interceptions. Longobardi has had the benefit of playing with good corners during his time at Caldwell. This allows him to play with a high level of confidence knowing that his guys will consistently be in good position. Longobardi does a great job hunting for the ball once its in the air. Both Kyle Readus and Gennaro Longobardi will have a huge impact on the Caldwell defense. These two should be one of the best defensive back pairings in sprint football.
(MSFL) SMWC Jr Austin Petrillo 2023-35tk 3tfl 3int 4pbu
The Pomeroy’s secondary is one of the best in the MSFL. With Soph Jordan Foster holding it down at corner the Pomeroy’s rely on rising Jr Austin Petrillo to play center field and control the back end of the defense. Petrillo has a well rounded game that allows him to do whatever the team needs him to do in any given game. He can bump down into the box and with the linebackers, play center field and make plays on the deep ball, run the alley to get stops, and cover receivers once they enter his zone. Petrillo should have another great season as SMWC looks to continue their winning ways.
