Week 3 Review
CSFL
Navy v Cornell-Navy win 49-0
Player of the game: Soph RB Hunter Gennicks 158yards 3TD
Navy won their home opener in convincing fashion. A strong running game proved to be too much for Cornell to handle. Sr QB Luke Wagner threw for 144yards 1td 1int. The strength of the team this day was once again the rushing attack led by Soph RB Hunter Gennicks. The star sophomore led the team with 158yards 3TD. The young back has quickly proved he is one of the best ball carriers in sprint football. Fr RB Broderick Freeman took to reigns and kept rolling finishing the game with 124yards 1TD. Sr WR Chris Stumpf led the team with 4rec 71yards 1td. Defensively Navy ended the afternoon with 5 interceptions. Every time Cornell had even a bit of momentum the Navy defense was able to shut that down. Next week Navy stays home to play Army.
Cornell was not able to get anything going on either side of the ball. The Cornell offense only generated 99 positive yards. 93 of those yards came through the air but the 5 interceptions did not help their cause. Any excitement generated from their overwhelming win against Molloy quickly dissipated during this game. Defensively Soph LB Thomas Shegogue led the team with 8tk 1tfl. Sr DL Zach Glenn and Eli Briddlecom combined for 14tk 3tfl 1sack. Cornell hits the road again next week to visit CHC.

Player of the game: Soph QB Kyle West 220yards 4TD
Army opened up their season with a big win over CHC. Soph QB Kyle West had the best game of his young career throwing for 220yards 4TD. The young QB should be due for a great season in his first year as the starting QB. The Army rushing attack was just as potent. Soph RB Arthur Lavalais led the team with 136yards 1TD. Lavalais is another player who should see career best numbers with this increased workload. Sr WR Ben Deloit led the team with 10rec 94yards and Sr WR Devon Brown had the best game of his career finishing with 3rec 88yards 3TD. On the defensive side of the ball Jr LB Louis Petkus led the team with 11tk 1tfl. Sr DB Sean Cuffe was the leader in the secondary. The Sr had 4tk 1int 1pbu. Army hits the road next week to take on Navy.
CHC managed to generate yards on offense, but they could not get what they needed to get on the board. Jr QB Anthony Cancellare threw for 73yards 1int. The rushing attack was what was able to get the Griffins moving on the field. As a team CHC ran for 156yards. Fr RB Xavier Limehouse ran for 55yards and Cancellare added 53yards. For the defense Fr LB Trevon Hodnett led the way with 9tk. Soph DB Amir Jenkins added to the mix with 6tk 2tfl. CHC heads home next week to play Cornell.
Penn v Mansfield- Penn win 24-13
Player of the game: Fr QB Michael Malone 152yards 1TD

Sr WR Jake Wang had his best game since his 2022 season finishing with 5rec 93yards 1TD. The young QB has had a great start to his career. His talents have allowed the Mansfield offense to do some creative things with Sr Cahsid Raymond. The star Sr led the team on the ground and through the air finishing with 231 all-purpose yards 2TD. In what has already been a once in a generation type career Raymond continues to find way to do what has never been done before. Sr WR Latrenton Randle also had a big night finishing with 6rec 108yards. On defense Fr LB Jackson Taylor had a career day leading the team with 15tk 1.5tfl 1pbu. STAC v Molloy- STAC win 59-7
Player of the game: Sr WR Jayden Bennermon 5rec 85yards 3TD
STAC started off slow only scoring 3 points in the first quarter. But once the Spartans got things going then the flood gates opened. Sr QB Ryan Kenny threw for 117yards 3TD 1int. The passing game hasn’t been off to the start the Spartans would have hoped for but if this game is a sign of things to come then STAC should be in a good place as they approach the midpoint of their season. Sr RB Davion Hicks led the team with 86yards on the ground with 1TD. Sr WR Jayden Bennermon has been the Spartans best offensive player so far this season. The big receiver led the team with 5rec 85yards 3TD. On defense Soph LB Jojo Miranda led the team with 8tk 0.5tfl. The bulk of those yards and the lone touchdown went to Jr WR Peter Schoenermarck who ended the night with 4rec 61yards 1TD. The ground game wasn’t effective for the Lions. They were only able to generate 34yards on the ground. The 4 turnovers the Lions lost stopped any positive traction the offense had. On defense Fr LB Marquis Dixon and Fr DB Max Kraemer combined for 12tk. Fr DB Jovanni Elysee added 5tk 1.5tfl 1sack. Molloy stays home again as they welcome Caldwell.
MSFL

Player of the game: Fr DL/LB Darrius Calhoun 8tk 1.5tfl 1fr(68yard return)

Oakland City had every chance to win this game. Unfortunately for them the Cavaliers capitalized off of their mistakes and escaped with the win. Fr QB Daniel Honeycutt threw for 197yards 2TD 3int 1rushing TD. Those turnovers proved to be what kept Walsh in striking distance. Fr RB Lamar Moore led the team with 69yards on the ground. Soph DL Andrew Brown led the team with 8tk 2tfl. Fr LB Fredrick Ellis added 7tk 1tfl 1pbu. Oakland City hits the road next week to visit SMWC.

While this wasn’t his best game throwing the ball the explosive QB tore up the Hawks defense of the ground. Barbosa had a game high 143yards 3TD. Whenever the CCSJ offense is stagnant or struggling the star QB finds a way to bring them back to life. Soph Zaire Davis also added 89yards 1TD. On defense Jr LB Trevor Busse led the team with 7tk 1.5tfl. Jr DL Tony Madrueno continues his great season finishing with 4tk 2tfl. The Crimson Wave secondary shut down the Quincy passing attack coming away with 3 interceptions. CCSJ stays home as they have a big matchup against Bellarmine next week.
Quincy couldn’t get things rolling in this one. Soph QB Deuce Allaway struggled only throwing for 39yards with 2int. The running game wasn’t any better. Quincy heads back home next week to take on Walsh.
Bellarmine v Midway-Bellarmine win 49-15
Player of the game: Fr QB Kyle Horvath 366yards 5TD
Bellarmine was in a dog fight with Midway in the first half. A tight 9-9 score made it look like this would be a defensive battle going down the stretch. However, that wasn’t the case because in the 2nd half the Knights out scored Midway 40-6. Fr QB Kyle Horvath had a record setting day throwing for 366yards 5TD. Horvath broke the Knights record for passing yards and passing touchdowns in a game. The Knights rushing attack we also very effective. Fr RB Jabree Smith led the team with 89yards and Jr RB Brenden Reid added 48yards 1TD. Soph RB Derrik Gant found the endzone on the ground and added 3rec for 51yards. The leading receiver in the game was Fr Nathan Kitchens who had a career day finishing with 3rec 124yards 1td. Sophomores Tyler Smith and Shannon Tonge combined for 8rec 132yards 3td. The Knights were just as good on defense. Fr DB Riley McGrath led the team with 10tk. Soph LB Luke Jackson had a career day finishing with 9tk 4.5tfl 3.5sacks. The Knights defense terrorized Midway upfront. As a team Bellarmine had 12.5tfl and 7sacks. Bellarmine hits the road next week to visit CCSJ.
Midway has shown that they are capable of hanging with the best teams in the league in the first half. But once again they fell apart in the second half. A 9-9 game quickly got out of hand and any attempt at a comeback was futile. Fr QB Christian Carter threw for 30yards 1TD. The star of the day for the Eagles was Fr RB Quintel Thomas who broke the record for most rushing yards in a game at Midway with 144yards with 1TD. The Midway defense was led by Soph DL Peyton Brazier who led the team with 6tk 2.5tfl 1sack. Midway heads into their bye before they take on Quincy at home.
