CSFL

Navy v Molloy-Navy win 34-0

Player of the game: Soph RB Hunter Gennicks 66yards 2TD

Navy used an efficient running game a tough defense to overwhelm a young Molloy team. Soph RB Hunter Gennicks led the charge ending the game with 66yards 2TD. Fr RB Broderick Freeman followed up with 53yards 2TD. Fr RB Ibi Denson ended the game with a team high 71yards and 1TD. Navy finished with 205yards on the ground with 5TD. The Navy offensive line dominated the trenches all night and made it easy for the backs to get vertical on this Lion’s defense. On defense Fr LB Connor Miltenberger led the team with 7tk 0.5tfl 0.5sacks. Navy heads home next week to welcome Penn.

Molloy continues to struggle to find their footing as a program. Offensively there wasn’t much the Lions could do to. Jr QB Paulie Drummond only threw for 84yards. The Lions only rushed for 25yards as a team. The Molloy offense has been held scoreless in their last three games and has only scored two touchdowns all season. The defensive side of the ball has not been much better. The Lion’s defense has given up 243 points this season. It will be interesting to see what Molloy can do as they attempt to end their season on a high note. Molloy will visit Mansfield next week.

Army v Mansfield-Army win 42-21

Player of the game: Soph RB Arthur Lavalais 122yards 2TD

Army continues to have success on both sides of the ball. Soph QB Kyle West threw for 162yards 1TD 1int. The main catalyst for Army was Soph RB Arthur Lavalais who ran for 122yards 2TD. Lavalais has been one of the most impressive backs in sprint football this season. With him leading the charge the Army running game will be hard to stop. Sr RB Henry Beck added 89yards 3TD. Fr WR Parker Williams led the team with 2rec 60yards. On defense Sr LB Weber Karsay led the team with 9tk. Army stays home next week to take on Cornell

Mansfield has been able to produce on both sides of the ball, but they can’t seem to string together enough good plays to win games. Fr QB Marcus Quaker and Sr Ath Cahsid Raymond combined for 218yards 2TD 3int. Quaker was also able to find the endzone on the ground. Fr RB Jameson Ricigliano led the team with 39yards on the ground. Sr WR Marcus Melle was the leading receiver with a game high 5rec 95yards 2TD. Defensively Fr LB Jackson Taylor led the team with 9tk 1tfl. Mansfield heads home next week to take on Molloy.

Penn v Caldwell-Penn win 24-14

Player of the game:Sr DL Cam Janock 9tk 2tfl 2sacks 1int

Penn came back from a halftime deficit to keep their winning streak alive. Fr QB Michael Malone threw for 112yards 2TD 2int. The Quakers were able to get the running game going with Sr Tom Rebstock and Soph JT Goodman. The pair combined for 106yards 1TD. Soph WR Andy Falletta led the team with 2rec 47yards 1TD. Defensively the Quakers got key stops to lead the comeback victory. Sr DL Cam Janock led the team with 9tk 2tfl 2sacks 1int. Sr LB Matt McKillop added 7tk 2.5tfl 1sack. Penn hits the road next week to take on Navy

Caldwell had the lead at the half, but they could not hold on for the win. Fr QB Josh Smith threw for 172yards 2TD 2int. Smith also led the team on the ground with 30rushing yards. The lack of production on the ground put a lot of pressure on Smith to make plays through the air. Sr WR Zaheir Mitchell led the team with 3rec 81yards 1TD. Jr WR Ajurn Petgrave added 7rec 72yards 1TD. On defense Fr LB Damain Tavares had a monster night ending the game with 22tk 2tfl 1sack. Tavares’s 22tk performance is good for the most tackles in a game in Caldwell history and the 2nd most tackles in a game in sprint football history. Despite the loss Tavares had one of the best defensive games in sprint football history. Caldwell hits the road next week to take on STAC.

CHC v STAC-CHC win 41-22

Player of the game: Soph RB Lawrence Howard 247yards 3TD

An all-time great performance on the ground got the Griffins a comeback victory. The passing game wasn’t too potent for the Griffins. Jr QB Anthony Cancellare only threw for 73yards with 1int. The catalyst for CHC was Soph RB Lawrence Howard. The 2nd year back ran for a career and program best 247yards with 3TD. Howard’s 247yards is also the good for the 8th most rushing yards in a game in sprint football history. Howard now has the single season rushing yards record at CHC with one more game to go. On defense Jr LB Cam Goldsmith and Soph DB Amir Jenkins combined for 12tk 4tfl 3sacks 1ff. CHC heads into their bye before they take on Penn to end the season.

STAC has struggled to get things to go their way this season. Both sides of the ball have taken a drop from where they were last year. Sr QB Ryan Kenny threw for 184yards 1TD.Like many games this season Kenny was the team’s leading rusher in positive yards gained but sacks and tackles for loss brought his end game total to just 2 positive yards. Soph WR Nyir Jones had his best game of the season finishing with 10rec 187yards 1TD. Defensively Jr DB Ethan Hence led the team with 14tk 0.5tfl 1pbu. STAC heads home next week to take on Caldwell to end their season.

MSFL

Bellarmine v Oakland City- Bellarmine win 32-14

Player of the game: Fr QB Kyle Horvath 221yards 4TD 2int

Bellarmine ended their regular season with a convincing win over a young Oaks team. Fr QB Kyle Horvath continued his strong freshman season with a 221yard 4TD performance. Horvath has been a welcomed addition to the Knights offense. His play has been a big reason for the Knights success this season. Jr RB Brenden Reid led the team with 75yards on the ground. Soph receivers Shannon Tonge and Tyler Smith combined for 8rec 131yards 4TD. The dynamic pair have been Horvath’s favorite targets all season. On the defensive side of the ball the Knights had a number of standout performances. Soph LB Allan Ho led the team with 12tk 1fr. Jr LB Caleb Murray had 9tk 4.5tfl 1.5sacks 1ff 1fr. Jr DL Royce Hall had 5tk 3.5tfl 1.5sacks. As a team Bellarmine finished the game with 14.5tfl and 7sacks. The Knights head into the playoffs as the #3 seed where they will play CCSJ on the road.

Oakland City was able to get some points on the board, but they couldn’t match the Knights offensive output. Fr QB Anias Mitchell threw for 141yards. Fr RB Jarvis Starks-Scott did find the endzone on the ground but as a team the Oaks only rushed for 69yards. Fr TE Tanner Gilbert was the leading receiver for the Oaks finishing the game with 6rec 60yards. On defense Soph LB Kanye Johnson led the team with 13tk 1tfl 1pbu. Fr DB Darrien Jones chipped in 2tk and a 45yard pick six. Oakland City ends their season with a 1-5 record.

SMWC v CCSJ-SMWC win 36-17

Player of the game: Fr WR Marques Reese 6rec 142yards 2TD

SMWC keeps their undefeated season alive as they claimed the #1 seed heading into the playoffs. Things started off great for the Pomeroys with a forced fumble on kickoff that got returned for a touchdown to take a 6-0 lead in the beginning of the game. Jr QB Jeremiah Tosky threw for 292yards 3TD. Tosky sat in the pocket all day and found his big play receivers down the field. The Pomeroy’s offensive line did a great job of giving Tosky the time he needed. Soph RB Derron Hazzard led the team with 59yards 1TD. Besides the special teams plays the biggest plays of the game came from Fr WR Marques Reese. The young receiver led the team with 6rec 142yards 2TD. Defensively Jr DB Austin Petrillo led the team with 10tk 1pbu. SMWC hosts Midway next week in the playoffs.

CCSJ had some mishaps that put them in a bad position in this clash of top programs. A turnover on the first kickoff and a safety because of a bad punt snap extended the CCSJ deficit. Jr QB Nino Barbosa threw for 94yards 1TD. Barbosa was able to extend plays with his legs, however he didn’t always connect with his receivers down field. Soph RB Jamall Warnell led the team with 89yards 1TD. Warnell had some tough runs throughout the day the kept Crimson Wave drives alive. Soph WR Stevie Salman was the leading receiver for the Wave ending the game with 3rec 49yards 1TD. On defense Jr LB Josh Tejeda had 6tk 0.5tfl and Jr LB Jared Cuevas Cottrell had 6tk 3tfl 1sack. CCSJ heads into the playoffs as the #2 seed where they will host Bellarmine.

Midway v Walsh-Midway win 25-12

Player of the game: Fr QB Christian Carter 56yards 1TD 111rushing yards 1TD and Fr RB Quintel Thomas 104yards 1TD

With this win Midway secures their spot in the MSFL playoffs. Big performances from two freshmen are the reason the Eagles will keep fighting on. Fr QB Christian Carter threw for 56yards 1TD but his biggest contributions were on the ground. Carter ran for 111yards 1TD. His backfield partner Fr RB Quintel Thomas had a big night as well ending the game with 104yards 1TD. The Eagle’s defense was led by their two best defensive linemen Soph Peyton Brazier and Sr Gavin Lay. Brazier led the team with 8tk 3tfl 2sacks and Lay added 6tk 4tfl 2sacks. This win put Midway as the #4 seed where they will hit the road to visit SMWC.

Like most of this season Walsh showed flashes of what they can become in the future. The Cavs just didn’t have enough consistent play to get out of this one with the win. Fr QB Zach Bowman threw for 105yards 1TD 1int. While the season may not have gone how he wanted it to Bowman has shown that he has the ability to be a successful QB in the MSFL. Fr RB Trayonn Wright led the team on the ground with 133yards 1TD. Jr WR Nate Gager led the team with 4rec 59yards 1TD. Defensively Soph DB Willy Wallace led the team with 8tk. Walsh ends their season with a 1-5 record.
