The Shape of Sprint: QB
Big Pocket Generals
These guys are the big, tall, and strong quarterbacks who use their size and ability to push the ball down the field. Their arm strength allows them to fit the ball into tight windows and take chances that other quarterbacks could only dream of taking. While some may be more mobile then others these are usually the guys that do the most damage from the pocket using their size and physical traits to hurt defenses.
(CSFL) Penn 13-16 QB Mike McCurdy 5892yards 49TD
McCurdy is one of the best to ever do it at the QB position. He had all of the traits every coach wishes for in a QB. Size, poise, accuracy, arm strength, IQ, McCurdy had it all. McCurdy could fit the ball into openings so tight that it would leave you speechless. It did not matter if it was a 5 yard pass or a 50 yard pass McCurdy could get it to his receiver with surgical precision. He is the best QB that I ever played in my career and one of the best to ever play sprint football. McCurdy is a titan of the position.
(CSFL) STAC 21-24 QB Ryan Kenny 3389yards 35TD
Kenny is a textbook example of what big and strong QB looks like and what they are capable of. Those traits helped Kenny finish his career as STAC’S all time leader in passing yards and touchdowns. Kenny throws one of the most beautiful deep balls you will ever see on any level. While he did have touch on short and intermediate throws, I always had the most joy watching him stretch the field and push it vertically. Kenny is a name you have to mention when talking about the latest generation of talented quarterbacks.
(CSFL) Army 20-23 QB Mikal Willeke 3371yards 31TD
Willeke finished his career as one of the top quarterbacks ever come through Army. The tall big framed QB was able to utilize every wrinkle that is within the Army offense. Whenever there was trouble Willeke was able to use his tools to make something happen. His strong frame and size allowed him to make a lot of plays down the field. He had a surprising amount of elusiveness which allowed him to extend plays to find a throw or run enough for a first down. Willeke made many spectacular plays throughout his time playing for the Black Knights.
