The Shape of Sprint:DL
The Frontline Disrupting Playmaker
The defensive line has a plethora of different play styles and body sizes. You have inside and outside guys. You have zero tech and 3 tech defensive tackles. You have pass rushers, run stuffers, and guys who can do both. In sprint football its important to have guys that can disrupt what the offense is doing and cause havoc. These guys come in all shapes and sizes but the results are the same. They make plays.
(CSFL) CHC 15-18 DT Brian Layden 200tk 49tfl 15.5sacks
Layden finished his career as one of the best defensive linemen to ever play sprint football. Layden possessed a thin frame with elite quickness. He would often use that quickness to disrupt offensive plays before they even had a chance to get going. It was common to see Layden using his go to swim move or one of the stabs and counters he had in his tool box to terrorize the interior offensive line. Layden is one of the most dominant defensive linemen we have ever had play the game.
(MSFL) CCSJ 22-25 DE Tony Madrueno 64tk 25tfl 11.5sacks
Madrueno has developed into one of the best front defenders in the game today. Madrueno boasts a tall frame with elite length that he uses to terrorize MSFL offenses. With that frame and agility he often chases down runs from the backside. He is no slouch when it comes to passing rushing either. Those long arms allow him to stab and get into the chest of offensive tackles before they even know what happened. If that doesn’t work he can simply use the great hand fighting and counters that he has at his disposal. With another good season Madrueno will go down as one of the defensive ends in sprint football history.
(CSFL) Army 17-20 DE/DT Navonte Dean 91tk 28.5tfl 22sacks 1int
Dean is one of the most skilled and dominant defensive linemen to ever play sprint football. A dynamic athlete Dean possessed skills that made him lethal as an interior tackle and a traditional end. It did matter where Dean lined up he was going to be a game breaker. Often times Dean would beat offensive tackles with his reach, speed, and strength. When that did not work he was a technician when it came to pass rushing. Dean was also able to peel of off rushes and keep running backs contained in the pass game. Although he did not get to play his final season due to covid Dean accomplished more than enough to be a all time great at the position.
