The Shape of Sprint:QB

Dual Threat

These quarterbacks are the guys that teams have to worry about running just as much as they have to worry about them passing. They can and often do use their legs to buy time and make plays down the field just like the other mobile guys. However, when it comes to these players there is something special that they have that you can’t coach or develop. These player’s physical talents like strong arms, speed, agility, and awareness will leave you speechless whenever they step on the field.

(CSFL) Mansfield 21-24 QB Cahsid Raymond 3745yards 31TD 2710rushing yards 30TD 19rec 387yards 1TD

Raymond has recently wrapped up one of the most spectacular careers we have ever seen in sprint football. From his first game to his last Raymond was electrifying. Its no coincidence that Mansfield’s most successful era in program history was with him at the helm. Raymond was capable of making every type of throw a coach could ask out of his QB. On top of that Raymond was the most dynamic runner we have ever seen in sprint football. Raymond routinely made entire defense whiff as they watched him get first downs or touchdowns on long plays. He was such a dynamic athlete he was able to have an impact as a receiver when the opportunities presented themselves. Simply put Raymond is one of the best players to ever play sprint football and one of the best quarterbacks we have ever seen.

(MSFL) Calumet College of St. Joseph (active) QB Nino Barbosa 1319yards 14TD 553rushing yards 15TD 15rec 177yards 25tk 1fr 3int 7pbu

Just like the other quarterbacks that fit this archetype Barbosa is a uber athlete playing the position. He is so talented that he was able to be a standout safety earlier in his career before his transition to quarterback. Barbosa’s talents also extend to the diamond as a standout player on the CCSJ baseball team. Barbosa uses his natural ability to give opposing defenses fits. He has a naturally strong arm which allows him to make throws on all three levels. His most dangerous trait is his running ability. Barbosa is a threat to find the endzone from 5 yards or 50 yards away. Barbosa is already one of the most electric players to ever play the position and with another year left he has the chance to add to his already great legacy.

(CSFL) Penn 16-19 QB Eddie Jenkins 3603yards 29TD 1128rushing yards 27TD

Jenkins is a part of a strong legacy of quarterback play at Penn. After sitting behind McCurdy and waiting his turn Jenkins took the league by storm and left a lasting legacy. Jenkins was a great passer who had poise in the pocket and an uncanny ability to know when to go off script and make something happen. Once he decided to get going Jenkins looked more like a running back in the open field. He had the toughness needed to run through contact and the speed it takes to hit that home run. Jenkins is in rare air along with Raymond as the only two quarterbacks with 25+ rushing touchdowns and the pair are the only two quarterbacks in the top 5 all time in rushing touchdowns. It’s safe to say Jenkins is one of the most potent quarterbacks to ever play the game.

(CSFL) Cornell 13-16 QB Rob Pannullo 2243yards 24TD 1256rushing yards 13TD

Pannullo is one of the best athletes to ever play for the Big Red. He is another example of a player whose athletic talents extended beyond the gridiron. Pannullo was a contributing player for Cornell’s baseball team during his time in Ithica. The talented quarterback used all of his physical tools to drag his Cornell teams to a competitive level. It was often Pannullo or bust while he was at the helm. Pannullo had the arm talent to make ever throw and the athletic ability to keep drives alive. His talents weren’t maximized due to the lack of talent around him, but Pannullo still was a spectacular player.
