CSFL
STAC v AB: AB win 23-13
Player of the Game: Soph DL Zachary Allison 8tackles 4TFL 1sack
AB finishes week 3 with their first win of the season. AB battled back from a 10-7 halftime deficit to secure the win. Soph WR Blake Baxter impacted the game by scoring the only receiving TD on the night on a pass from Sr QB Tim Tillman. He also took a 75yard kick return to the house to give AB all of the momentum. Fr RB Isaiah Smith had a career day on the ground running for 97yards. Another highlight of the night is the AB offensive line did not allow a single sack all night. On defense the Battlers were led by their defensive line. Fr DL Kyonte Green had 8tackles 1.5TFL and Soph DL Zachary Allison finished with 8tackles 4TFL 1sack. AB hits the road next week to visit Army.
Despite an early lead STAC couldn’t hold off this resilient AB team. Things started off good with a blocked punt turning into 6 for the Spartans. However this would be the last touchdown of the game for STAC. Soph QB Ryan Kenny did not finish the game which forced Jr WR Jayden Bennermon to take over the reins.Despite the woes at QB Soph WR Hassan Blakney had an impact on the game finishing with 7rec 92yards.On defense Sr LB Sheriffh Bittay tried to keep his team in the game adding 5tackles 2TFL. STAC hits the road again next week to take one Mansfield.
Army v Penn: Army win 40-0
Player of the Game: Jr QB Mikal Willeke 303yards 4TD
After a quick 3 & out the Army offense rebounded and never looked back. Jr QB Mikal Willeke had an impressive day throwing for a career high 303 yards and a career 4TD. Willeke took advantage of the soft coverage of the Penn defense all night. Sr WR Donovan Mannion finished his night with 5rec 101yards 2TD and Jr WR Traye Carson finished with 6rec a career high 122yards and 2TD. The two receivers had their way with the Penn defensive backs. The Army defense had just as good of a game if not better. Army finished with a staggering 14sacks and 24TFL ! Jr DL Ryan Rast had the best game of his career leading the team with 12tackles 4.5TFL 4sacks, all career highs. Right behind him was Jr LB Michael Sullivan 11tackles 3.5TFL 2sacks and Brendan Windsor 6tackles 3TFL 2.5sacks. Penn had now answers for a tenacious Army front. Army heads back home to welcome AB next week.
Penn struggled to get anything going in this game. The offensive line could not do Sr QB Andrew Paolini any favors. Paolini threw for 180yards with no touchdowns and 1int. What success he did have passing the ball was often short lived. Fr RB Levi Gans struggled with pass protection getting lit up by blitzing Army defenders all night. Fr WR Brandon Graves continues to be the teams most effective offense weapon finishing the game with 3rec 73yards. Fr LB Charles Tauckus is another young guy on his Penn team who continues to look sharp. The young LB led the team with 10tackles 1TFL 1sack. This is his second game in a row with 10+ tackles. Penn heads back home next week for a Philadelphia matchup against Chestnut Hill.
Mansfield v Cornell: Mansfield win 42-14
Player of the Game: Soph QB Cahsid Raymond- 244passing yards 3TD 28rushing yards.
Mansfield came out hot in this one and never slowed down. Soph QB Cahsid Raymond had a good night passing the ball throwing for 244yards 3TD. The young QB showed how reliable he can be with his arm when the run game isn’t clicking. Fr RB Audie McAree found the endzone 3 times and led the team in rushing yards. The young running back finished with 47rushing yards 2TD 3rec 34yards 1TD. Mcaree has been one of the better freshmen running backs this season in the CSFL. Fr LB Bobby Dell led the way for the Mansfield defense leading the team with 8tackles 2TFL. Mansfield heads back home to take on STAC next week.
Cornell couldn’t do much in this one until the 2nd and 3rd string came in for Mansfield. Sr QB Xavier Martinez had one of the best games of his career throwing for 208yards 2TD 1int.This is only the 2nd game ever for the QB with 200+ yards. Sr WR Colton Kotecki had some big chunk plays as the kick returner and led the team in receiving yards finishing with 2rec for 56yards. Defensively there was nothing Cornell could do to stop Mansfield. Jr LB Will Anderson led the team with 13tackles 1TFL 0.5sack and Jr LB Billy Turner added 11tackles 0.5TFL 0.5sack. Cornell hits the road next week to go visit Navy.
Navy v Caldwell:Navy win 26-13
Player of the game: Sr RB Alex Totta-283rushing yards 2TD 2rec 20yards
Navy took this one relying on a strong run game and defense. The Navy passing game continues to play a supplementary role for the offense. Jr QB Brandon Atwood threw for 101yards 1int. Atwood has yet to throw for 150+ yards this season. Where Navy continues to shine is on the ground. Star Sr RB Alex Totta had a record setting performance finishing the game with 283rushing yards 2TD. His 283yards are the 3rd most rushing yards ever in a game in CSFL history and 2nd most in a game in Navy history. Increible night from the senior running back, he’s a guy any team would love to have toasting the pill . Defensively Navy scored on a fumble recovery and off a blocked punt to add more points on the board. Jr LB Jack Costigan led the team with 10tackles 2TFL. Soph LB Major Kent followed up with 9tackles 1TFL 1sack. Kent continues to show that he can be one of the best backers in the league. Really impressed with his performances as of late. Navy heads back home to welcome Cornell next week.
Caldwell stayed in the game early but costly turnovers kept them out of striking distance. Sr QB Frank Demaio continues to show poise and maturity as the leader for the Caldwell offense. He finished the night with 171passing yards 19rushing yards 1TD. Fr RB Devon Turner ran strong for the Cougars leading them in rushing with 63yards 1TD. The young back has proven to be one of the best rookie ball carriers in the league. Defensible the reliable Soph LB Andrew Conklin led the team with 12tackles.Soph DB Gennaro Longobardi had the best game of his young career adding 10tackles 1TFL 1ff 1int. Caldwell heads into the bye week before they hit the road next week to visit Chestnut Hill.
MSFL
Bellarmine v Quincy: Bellarmine win 12-0
Player of the game: Fr RB/DB Brenden Reid 71yards 2rec 36yards/ 11tackles 2.5TFL 1int TD
Bellarmine continues their hot start to the season capturing their 3rd straight win. Fr QB Dylan Gough only completed 8 passes on the afternoon but threw for 140yards 1TD 2int. The running game continues to be the saving grace for the Knights. Fr RB Brenden Reid led the team again with 71 rushing yards adding 2rec for 36 receiving yards. He saved the game last week on offense but in this one he played hero on the defensive side of the ball. Reid led the team with 11tackles 2.5TFL 1int. His interception put the game out of reach as he ran it back 43yards to the house. Reid is one of the most electrifying players in the MSFL and already one of the best players in Sprint Football across both leagues. Bye week next week for all MSFL teams.
Quincy continues to play strong defense but couldn’t muster up any points in this one. A quarterback change for the Hawks resulted in a more efficient passing offense despite not scoring any points. Fr QB Nick Manzo threw for 203yards, most by a Quincy QB this season. His 1int came late in the game which put this one out of reach, but the young QB did look good throwing the rock. Fr Wr Ethan Hentges led the team in receiving yards with 67 on 4 receptions. Fr WR Camden Pye continues to be a reliable target hauling in 9 receptions for 49yards. Defensively Soph LB Ray Lingard had himself a day finishing with 10tackles 5TFL 1sacks. His 5TFL ties him for the 4th most in a game in Sprint football history. This is also the most so far this season in MSFL history. Bye week next week for all MSFL teams.
CCSJ v Fontbonne:CCSJ win 13-6 OT
Player of the game: Fr RB Jonathan Flemings 71rushing yards 1TD
CCSJ had to go into overtime to pull out this win. The passing game wasn’t clicking for the Crimson Wave. Fr QB Blaze Cano only threw for 57yards. The foundation of this team continues to be their running game. Fr RB Jonathan Flemings continues to produce, finishing this one with 71rushing yards and 1TD. His touchdown came during the overtime period to seal the game for CCSJ. On the defensive side of the ball the young defensive players for CCSJ kept Fontbonne from gaining momentum. Fr DB Isaac Hegwood, Fr LB Alexander Dellaechaie, and Fr DB Josh Tejeda all had 1 interception each. Bye week next week for all MSFL teams
Fontbonne continues to show flashes but hasn’t put it all together yet this season. Fr QB Dylan Scruggs threw for 143yards 1TD but threw 3 interceptions. Scruggs also fumbled the ball twice with one being lost to the CCSJ defense. The lone TD of the day came from Fr WR Jayen Politte who finished with 3rec 67yards 1TD. The Fontbonne defense has done a great job not allowing a ton of points but it hasn’t resulted in wins for the Griffins. Fr DB Jordan Flowers led the team with 6tackles. Fr DL Isaiah Sanders had the lone sack of the afternoon while adding 5tackles. Bye week next week for all MSFL teams.
SMWC v Midway: SMWC win 48-22
Player of the game: Fr QB Brennon Landry 420passing yards 4TD 38rushing yards 2TD
SMWC won this one in dominant fashion putting up the most points in the MSFL so far this season. Fr QB Brennon Landry had a career day throwing for 420yards 4TD adding 38rushings 2TD. Landry’s 420passing yards are the 2nd most passing yards in a game in Sprint Football history. Only 9 yards away from breaking the record(Todd Busler 429). The young QB has looked great all season so far and should continue to improve as the season progresses. Fr RB Patrick Perea got back on track after a quiet game last week. He finished with 97rushing yards 1TD. Three receivers had the best games of their young careers. Fr WR Jaheem Joseph had a career and league high 175yards on 6 receptions with 3TD. Joseph’s 175yards is good for the 11th most in Sprint Football history and his 3 receiving touchdowns ties him for the 3rd most in Sprint Football history. Fr WR Devron Johnson had 2receptions for 117yards with 1TD and Fr WR Corbyn Cleveland had 5receptions for 88yards. Defensively Fr LB Jake Skinner continues to be an anchor finishing the game with 9tackles 0.5TFL 0.5sacks 1int. Fr DB Monte’ May had an impact in the secondary adding 4tackels with 1int. Midway continues to find their identity as they look for their first win of the season. Fr QB Vernon Duncan came in to relieve DJ Palmer and got things going for the Midway offense. The young QB finished with 163yards 1TD. Fr WR Ja’shawn Lee and Fr WR Penther Alphons continue to show how explosive they can be combining for 7rec 102yards 2TD. Fr LB Jonah Kile led the team with 10tackles 1TFL 1ff. Fr DL/LB Luke Guerrero added some life to the Midway defense finishing with 6tackles 2.5TFL 1sack. Bye Week next week for all MSFL teams.
