CSFL
Penn v Chestnut Hill:Penn win 9-6
Player of the game: Sr QB Andrew Paolini- 269passing yards 1TD
This matchup between the two Philadelphia teams was a defensive dog fight all night. Penn relied heavily on star Sr QB Andrew Paolini who continues to show why he is one of the top quarterbacks in the CSFL. Paolini finished with 269passing yards and 1TD. The Penn offensive line continues to struggle which resulted in Paolini getting sacked 7times. Soph WR Kyle Zeitlian had a career day finishing with 5receptions for 96yards and Soph WR Jake Wang did not disappoint adding 8receptions for 89yards. Both young receivers proved to be reliable targets for Paolini throughout the game. Defensively Soph DB Jordan Ortiz had his the most impactful game of his career hauling in 2 interceptions that help stall the Chestnut Hill offense. Penn hits the road next week to visit Cornell.
CHC had their chances to win but the young team couldn’t get it done. Fr QB Anthony Cancellare threw for 105yards 1TD but also threw 4 interceptions on the night. Despite the turnovers the young QB rallied the offense and had the Griffins in scoring position late in the game. Sr WR Schneider Juste led the Griffins with 4receptions for 46yards. The stars of the night for CHC were on the defensive side of the ball. Fr DL Jonathan Havril had a career night finishing with 8tackles 5TFL 3sacks, all of which were career highs. Multiple CHC defenders did their part to keep it close, seven players had at least 5tackles and six players had at least 1TFL. CHC heads back home next week to take on Caldwell.
Navy v Cornell: Navy win 55-0
Player of the game: Jr WR Andrew Margiotta -5rec 250yards 3TD
Navy took an early lead and never looked back. The Navy passing attack which had been pedestrian up to this point of the season finally had their huge offensive game, Jr QB Brandon Atwood had his best game of the season throwing for 284yards 3TD. The bulk of those yards went to went to Jr WR Andrew Margiotta who rewrote the record books. His 250yards are the most receiving yards in a game in Navy sprint football history and the 3rd most receiving yards in a game in CSFL history. His historic night started with a 70-yard TD reception followed by a 69 yarder and 89 yarder. The navy offense looks as potent as ever just being one week removed from Alex Totta’s record breaking night. Defensively Soph DL David Niski had a huge night finishing with 5tackles 4TFL 4sacks, all of which are career highs. Navy heads into their bye week before they welcome Penn to Annapolis.
Cornell continues to struggle dropping their 3rd game of the season. Sr QB Xavier Martinez threw for 100yards on the night. Just about all of those yards were to Sr WR Luke Verzella who had a career high 6receptions for 96yards. The Cornell defense has been absent thus far this season. 3 games into the year Cornell is giving up 56.33 points per game. The offense isn’t doing much better averaging less than 5 points per game. Cornell will look to get things going next week as they welcome Penn to Ithica.
Army vs Alderson Broaddus; Army win 63-0
Player of the Game: Jr QB Mikal Willeke -193yards 1TD 1rushing TD
Army took a commanding lead early and didn’t let up. Jr QB Mikal Willeke threw for 193yards 1TD before his night was over. Soph RB Henry Beck had a career high 3 rushing TD with 61yards. Backup QB Seth Brown saw some action in this one, he threw 1 TD and had 2TD on the ground. Jr WR Traye Carson led the receiving core with 8receptions for 88yards. Much like the offense the Army defense had a plethora of guys impact the game. Sr DL Brendan Windsor had 5tackles and Jr LB Luke Gigliotti added 5 tackles 1TFL 1ff 1fr 2pbu. Army hits the road next week to visit STAC.
AB struggled to get anything going in this one. Sr QB Tim Tillman only threw for 35yards. The AB rushing attack didn’t have any success against the Army defense finishing with -18rushing yards in the game. The one offensive bright spot was Soph WR Blake Baxter who had 4receptions for 48yards. Defensively Soph DL Zachary Allison led the way with 11tackles 0.5TFL 0.5sack. Fr Dylan Knight was right behind him with 10tackles 1TFL. AB hits the road again next week to go visit Mansfield.
Mansfield vs STAC: Mansfield win 55-5
Player of the game: Soph QB Cahsid Raymond- 38passing yards 231rushing yards 3TD
The Mansfield rushing attack and defense proved to be too much for STAC to handle. Soph QB Chasid Raymond struggled throwing the ball but made up for it by having a historic day running the ball. The star QB ran for 231yards and 3TD. His 231 rushing yards are the 11th most in a game in CSFL history and the most rushing yards ever in a game by a quarterback in CSFL history. Raymond also became Mansfield’s all-time leading rusher in just two seasons. The Mansfield defense had its fair share of elite performances as well. Soph LB Gavin Hinman led the team with 10tackles 3TFL 1.5sacks. Sr LB Matt Robert was right behind him adding 7tackles 1.5TFL 0.5sack and a fumble recovery returned for a TD. Sr DL Chase Moser dominated up front finishing the game with 6tackles 3.5TFL 2.5sacks. Mansfield has their second home game in a row next week vs Alderson Broaddus.
STAC struggled to get anything going in this one. Jr Jayden Bennermon has been thrust into the starting lineup in the absence of Soph QB Ryan Kenny. Bennermon’s 29passing yards on 3 completions did little to keep STAC in the game.30 rushing yards as a team with no rushing touchdowns also prevented any sort of comeback for the Spartans. Jr LB Esmond Oldums led the way for the Spartans defense. His 5tackles were tied for the team lead, he also added 1TFL and 1sack 1ff. Jr DB Shawn Benard had 1interception on the night but that did little to change the flow of the game. STAC heads back home next week to play Army.
