Week 2 Review

Navy vs Penn: Navy win 27-6

Player of the game- Sr RB Hunter Gennicks 97yards 1td

Navy started the 2026 season with a balanced win over Penn. The passing attack, ground game, and defense looked ready to go against the Quakers. Sr QB Luke O’Connell threw for 195yards 2TD 1int. The ground game was led by star running back Hunter Gennicks. The senior led the game with 97yards 1TD. His backups Soph Rhett Sypult and Jr Broderick Freeman added 65yards 1TD. Gennick’s game was one that will go down in history as he became Navy’s all-time leader in rushing yards passing former Navy running back Eric Wellmon. Gennicks is only 4 rushing touchdowns away from becoming the all-time leader in rushing touchdowns in sprint football history. Every week will be one for the books for Gennicks. The receiving game was led by newcomer Jr WR Andrew Lay who led the team with 3rec 89yards 1TD. On defense Sr LB Sam Stotler and Sr LB Jake Frazier combined for 14tk 2tfl. Soph LB Drake Murrell had a night ending the game with 5tk 3tfl 1sack. Navy stays home next week to take on Army.

The Jon Dupont era started off with a loss, but the Quakers showed they may have something for the league this season. Fr QB John Franchini threw for 94yards 1TD 1int. If Franchini can build off of this performance Penn may have their answer at quarterback. The run game was nonexistent for Penn. The Quakers ending the game with 47yards on the ground. The lone performer in the receiving core was Sr Andy Falletta who led the team with 8rec 80yards 1TD. On defense Penn proved that this is yet another team that will have playmaking linebackers. Jr LB Colin Cross led the team with 13tk. Soph LB Hugh Maley added 8tk 1int. Penn hits the road again next week to take on STAC.

Army vs Caldwell: Army win 41-10

Player of the game- Sr RB JP Ross 132yards 3TD and Jr RB Gabriel Bolivar 104yards 1TD

After a relatively close game in the 1st half Army exploded on the ground in the 2nd. Sr QB Kyle West did not do much throwing the ball ending the game with just 96yards. The catalysts for the Army offense were Sr RB JP Ross and Jr RB Gabriel Bolivar. Ross ran for 132yards 3TD and Bolivar added 104yards 1TD. The Army offensive line did a great job of creating lanes for Ross and Bolivar and the two backs did the rest. Fr WR John Charette led the team with 6rec 63yards. Defensively Army made it tough for Caldwell all night. Sr DB Caleb McGarity had maybe the best game of his career leading the team with 6tk 1tfl 5pbu. Soph LB John Belveal added 6tk as well. Army hits the road to take on Navy next week.

Caldwell showed some promise with their passing attack but struggled in the other areas of the game. Jr QB Cael Zebrowski threw for a game high 272yards 1TD 1int. The Cougars had no run game to speak of ending the night with -4 yards on the ground. The biggest offensive performer for the Cougars was Jr ATH Josh Smith who had a game high 150yards on 6rec with 1TD. Jr DB Anthony Cummings led the way on defense with 10tk 3pbu. Fr DL Christian Brewton also added 10tk. Caldwell hits the road again to take on D’Youville next week.

Molloy vs CHC: CHC win 17-7

Player of the game- Jr RB Xavier Limehouse 126yards 2TD

CHC was able to open up this game after a low scoring first half on the back of their offensive line and talented running back. The passing game was led by Fr QB Griffin Walter who threw for 112yards in his first colligate start. The engine for the Griffins offense in this one was Jr RB Xavier Limehouse. The star running back led the team with 126yards 2TD. Limehouse’s 5.7 yards per carry grinded the Molloy defense down all night. The standout running back is a battering ram and should be the catalyst for the Griffins offense all season. Jr WR Tzion Allen led the team with 3rec 29yards. On defense Jr LB Riley Stidham led the team with 7tk 2tfl 1ff 1fr. CHC heads home next week to take on Cornell.

Molloy fought hard and kept things close in the first half of their home opener. A lack of offensive punch proved to be the difference in this game. Sr QB Paulie Drummond threw for 66yards with only 4 completions. The best offensive performer for the Lions was Soph RB Jalen Gordon. The young running back led the team with 72rushing yards. The leading receiver was Gr WR Peter von Schoenermarck who finished with 2rec 34yards. Schoenermarck also added 22yards on the ground and the lone touchdown for the Lions.On defense Soph DB Ayden Das led the team with 12tk.Soph LB Julian Lopez added 5tk 1tfl 1sack. Molloy hits the road next week to take on Mansfield.

Mansfield vs Cornell: Mansfield win 43-6

Player of the game- Soph QB Jospeh Frye 196yards 3TD 157rushing yards 2TD

Mansfield had an offensive explosion in their convincing win over Cornell in the Josh Palmer Pigskin Classic. Soph QB Joseph Frye did not disappoint in his debut leading the passing attack and ground game. Frye finished with 196yards 3TD and 157rushing yards 2TD. A huge 68yard run was the final act in what was a great opening performance. Sr RB Weston Bellows added 91 yards on the ground. The receiving core did their part to contribute to this explosive performance. Jr WR Camryn Harwick led the team with 5rec 98yards 1TD. Sr WR Jerry Holmes added 2rec 65yards 2TD. On defense the Mountaineers stopped Cornell consistently throughout the game. Jr LB Jackson Taylor led the team with 9tk 2tfl 1sack. Sr DL Shamus Lesher added 5tk 1.5tfl 1.5sack 1ff. Mansfield heads home next week to take on Molloy.

Cornell struggled to get anything positive going in this one. Fr QB Beck Berry and Sr QB Luis Stefano combined for 5-17 38yards 1TD 2int. The running game was not much better with 6 Cornell rushers combining for 42yards. Sr TE Andrew Lay scored the lone touchdown ending the night with 1rec 21yards 1TD. Jr DL Ben Roerden and Sr DB Kruz Meier combined for 22tk 1.5tfl 1sack. The pair fought all night trying to slow down the potent Mansfield offense. Cornell hits the road next week to take on CHC.

STAC vs D’Youville: STAC win 20-2

Midway vs Bellarmine: Midway win 55-14

Player of the game- Jr QB Christian Carter 282yards 3TD

Midway exploded for a 35-point first quarter and never looked back. Jr QB Christian Carter returned to form after a up and down week 1. Carter led the team with 282yards 3TD. Fr RB Leondre Martin had his best game as an Eagle leading the team with 107yards. Jr RB Zane Wickliffe added 36yards 2TD. The Midway receiving core dominated and made plays all over the field. Jr WR Ayden Bauwens led the way with 5rec 129yards 1TD. Jr WR Chase Williams followed up with 4rec 97yards 1TD. Defensively Midway made it tough on the Knights all night. Jr LB Kaleb Chase led the team with 7tk 0.5tfl 0.5sack 1fr. Jr DL Jamarion Taylor had an impact up front adding 5tk 3tfl 1sack. Midway hits the road next week to take on Quincy.

Bellarmine scored in the 1st when it looked like it was going to be a close game. Things got out of hand quickly and the Knights never recovered. Jr QB Kyle Horvath threw for 79yards 1TD. As things snowballed Fr QB Jamie Jones came in and ended the day with 118yards 1TD 1int. Fr RB Kayson Holland led the team with 54yards on the ground. Fr WR Ryan Morris led the team with 4rec 72yards 1TD and Fr WR Robert Oats was not far behind with 6rec 68yards 1TD. Jr DB Riley McGrath led the defense with 7tk 0.5tfl. Bellarmine heads home to welcome CCSJ next week.

CCSJ vs Quincy: CCSJ win 21-6

Player of the game- Soph LB CJ Wright 10tk 2tfl 2sacks 1ff

CCSJ methodically chipped away at the Hawks to come out with the victory in this game. Fr QB DJ Bowles made some key plays in his first start to secure the victory. Bowles finished the game with 155yards 2TD. Bowles also added 21yards and 1TD on the ground. Jr RB Zaire Davis led the team in rushing yards with 44. Sr WR Kaydarious Jones was the leading receiver for the Wave ending the game with 5rec 70yards. His running mate Sr WR Tre Simmons added 4rec 54yards 1TD. On defense while the Crimson Wave did give up some big plays but held the Hawks out of the endzone when they needed to. Jr DB Logan Barrios and Soph DB Isaiah Kish had combined for 20tk 0.5tfl. Soph LB dominated finishing with 10tk 2tfl 2sacks 1ff. CCSJ stays on the road again next week to take on Bellarmine.

Quincy made big plays throughout the game, but it wasn’t enough to secure the victory. Soph QB Keit Truong threw for 288yards 1TD 3int. Truong was throwing the ball all around the yard, but turnovers proved to be the difference in this one. The Hawks were not able to repeat last week’s dominance on the ground only rushing for 19yards as a team this week. The star offensively for the Hawks was Sr WR Nasir Carson. Carson had a huge day finishing with a game high 9rec 184yards 1TD. Carson has shown early in the season that he is the catalyst for this Hawks offense and is one of the best receivers in the game. On defense Quincy was led by their usual standouts. Gr LB Donnell Packer led the team with 10tk 3tfl. Sr DB Thomas Murray led the secondary with 7tk 1tfl 1ff 1fr. Quincy stays home to welcome Midway next week.
